Erin Andrews Awarded $55 Million In Peeping Tom Lawsuit

...jury found the hotel operator, owner and Michael Barrett (stalker), the man who shot the videos, all partially responsible

 Sportscaster and TV host Erin Andrews sued a Nashville Marriott franchise owner for $75 million, -  the hotel was negligent in stalker her to stay in a room next to hers.



   US sports broadcaster Erin Andrews finds out the videos have been watched at least 17 million times.

Attorneys for the owner and former operator of the Marriott at Vanderbilt University argued that while what happened to Andrews was terrible, the convicted stalker, Michael David Barrett, should be solely to blame for the video shot in 2008.

Jurors started their deliberations on Monday after two weeks of emotional testimony.

After a day of deliberations, a jury found the stalker 51% to blame, leaving two hotel companies to pay about $27m.
Erin Andrews, 37, a Fox Sports reporter, was filmed in 2008 through her hotel door peephole by Michael David Barrett, who released the video online.

They came back with a decision after a full day of deliberations, finding that the hotel companies and the stalker shared the blame.

An FBI investigation revealed that Barrett shot videos in hotels in Nashville and Columbus, Ohio, and posted them online.

Barrett did not appear at the trial - but in his videotaped deposition, he said that he alone was to blame. He said he correctly guessed that she would be at the hotel - it was the closest one to the Vanderbilt football game Andrews was covering - by calling and pretending to be in a group with Andrews and asking for confirmation of the reservations.

He said he used an in-house employee phone to learn her room number, and made a request to be in the room next to Andrews.

During closing arguments, one of Andrews' lawyers said Barrett tried to take all of the blame because he holds a grudge against her over his conviction and doesn't want her to win any money.
