Shocking footage has emerged of a driver of an illegal taxi service running over his own customer after he was stopped by traffic authorities for an inspection.
The video, filmed in Liupanshui, south-west China's Guizhou Province, was filmed on March 9, according to People's Daily Online.
Footage
shows the customer attempting to remove luggage from the boot before
being run over as the driver tries to reverse and escape authorities.
Shocking: The man was knocked down and run over by the car as he was removing luggage from the boot
According
to reports, the officers had previously seen the customer being picked
up by the illegal taxi and followed the car as it drove away.
When
the authorities tried to stop the silver vehicle at a three-way
junction, the driver resorted to extreme measures in bid to avoid
inspection.
In
the video, the illegal cab could be seen reversing over the victim and
then driving away after officers approached the car for inspection.
The passenger, who was wearing a red jacket, was trying to remove luggage from the boot of the car at the time.
Miraculously, the man only sustained minor injuries in the ordeal.
However the driver sped off without the customer being able to grab his suitcase.
Police later found the driver and detained him.
After
negotiation, the driver reportedly paid 3,800 Yuan for the victim's
medical bills. He also received a 10,000 Yuan (£1,070) fine from the
traffic police.
Illegal
taxis are common in China and authorities are attempting to crack down
on the trade and urging people to take licences cabs.
The vehicle had been attempting to avoid being checked by police when it ran the man over
