South Carolina’s Jim Clyburn Plans To Endorse Hillary Clinton

South Carolina’s Jim Clyburn Plans To Endorse Hillary Clinton

... what happened to Mr James Clyburn I am going to stay neutral until the South Carolina primary is over.

"... I am not going to influence my constituents one way or the other".

Rep James Clyburn (D-SC)
: Congressional power broker. Announced intention to declare support for Hilary Clinton on eve of South Carolina primaries

The only problem Mr Clyburn is that your endorsement which s conveniently timed for just before the South Carolina primaries, looks rather orchestrated and designed to tip the primaries in a particular direction.  I guess that is the purpose of endorsements so I am not complaining about that. On the contrary, I am quite happy for Madam Secretary because her campaign's rudder has been malfunctioning functioning and it is losing steam real fast . This might be the shot in the arm it needs to get close to the finish line.

“That was certainly my intention,” Clyburn recently told the Washington Post of his intention to remain neutral. “But I am re-evaluating that. I really am having serious conversations with my family members.”

The question sir, is why all that posturing about not wanting to influence the out come of the election only to trade your integrity and go back on your word.  Long term prognosis, it could cost you the ears of your constituents, especially the new, read young, voters. The question is, what happens when your voice is really needed. No sir, do not put this on your family. It is all on you.

The lofty expectations here comes from the general impression that you, Rep Clyburn, are one of the rare breed of politicians who have mastered the art of balancing pragmatic self interest with principles. Enough that when you declare publicly that you could be trusted to remain neutral and calm in a heated polity, that you can be counted upon to see the potential of a major upheaval in the democratic ranks if the establishment willy nilly manipulates the outcome of the primaries. FYI, if you (Democratic Establishment), in the process happen to lose a major component of the coalition that brought Obama to power, the blood bath of 2012 may turn out to be child's play.

This drive towards the self-destruct button in the DNC is becoming quite interesting. The RNC might end up handling their chaos better because, they can at least, see it coming. Hopefully, the young voters of which there are many, follow you and the Democratic establishment to the 'promised' land.
