It took six tests to convince her she’s pregnant

Neither had met the other before, knew nothing of each other’s craft, nor particularly cared, yet cupid struck the unsuspecting pair of Serena Williams and Alex Ohanian two years ago, poolside at breakfast in the Cavalieri hotel, Rome.
Fast forward from that chance meeting early in the morning on May 12, 2015.
The pair are definitely an item, engaged to be married later in the year and expecting their first child.
Serena won Grand slam no. 23 in Melbourne, Australia while she was eight weeks pregnant, never dropping a set.
According toVanity Fair, it took six pregnancy tests to finally convince Serena Williams she really had a baby growing inside of her.
Despite the vomiting and enlarged breasts, world number one female tennis player Serena Williams was certain she wasn’t pregnant.
It was only at the urging of her friend Jessica Steindorff did the sporting ace agree to take a pregnancy test in early January, mainly to shut her friend up. The truth prevailed. Serena indeed was pregnant.
At 35-year-old, and gunning for record grand slam titles to add to her already loaded trophy chest, Serena who is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, had thrown up and noticed her breasts felt enlarged while she was hitting tennis balls one morning to prepare for the tournament.
Her pal, Jessica Steindorff, threw down a suggestion she might just be late and suggested she take a pregnancy test.
“I’ll take it just because (a) to prove you wrong and (b) because it’s fun, whatever,” she recounted for Vanity Fair scribe Buzz Bissinger. “It’s like a joke. Why not?”
But the test came back positive, leaving Williams stunned.
“(I) did a double take and my heart dropped,” she said. “Like literally it dropped.”
The baby on board didn’t affect Williams’s performance at the Open a week later. The tennis icon, who’s won a record 23 Grand Slam titles, not only won the tournament, but did so without losing a set in seven matches.
Serena looked gorgeous, baring it all for Vanity Fair
Williams and Ohanian, 34, plan to get married this fall after the baby arrives, according to the Vanity Fair feature, which features a cover of Williams cradling her bump.
During her wide-ranging interview with the magazine, Williams discussed how she and her friends were originally annoyed by Ohanian when they first met him in Rome in May 2015, because he decided to sit down next to them by the pool at their hotel even though there was ample seating in the area.
”This big guy comes and he just plops down at the table next to us, and I’m like, ‘Huh! All these tables and he’s sitting here?'” she recalled.
But they quickly hit it off, and a year and a half later Ohanian proposed, at the same hotel where they first met.

Williams, who is the younger sister of fellow tennis star Venus, revealed in April that she was five months pregnant when she accidentally made a Snapchat photo of her baby bump public after intending to only send it to her friends.
Despite the radical changes to her personal life, she’s not ready to call game, set, match on her tennis career and hopes to return to competing in tournaments as soon as January.
“I don’t think my story is over yet,” she said
