Paul Massey was a notorious Salford businessman and local politician known as Mr Big. He was shot dead in July 2015, prompting a murder probe. A gangster ordered the hit and ran away to Spain.

They also discovered four huge knives tucked down a sofa, several ski masks, black gloves and ammunition, in addition to a 9mm machine gun loaded and ready to fire. As special armed forces raided the two villas, members of the gang allegedly smashed their mobile phones and flushed the SIM cards down the toilet.

A team off five men and one woman were arrested following the raid by Greater Manchester Police, the National Crime Agency and Spanish National Police.
