1.5 billion Power Ball Winners Maureen and David claim thier prize

Airplane engineer and wife cash in their winning stake in $1.58billion Powerball lottery
 

Married couple from Melbourne Beach, Florida are the second of three winners in the record-breaking January lottery to come forward David Kaltschmidt, 55, is an aircraft engineer plans to retire from his job. Maureen Smith, who is 70, said they decide to take the lump sum $327 million, as opposed to the annuity, because of her age

Smith says she bought the winning ticket using numbers she has played for years, in addition to another 'quick pick' ticket of randomly selected numbers. She called the Melbourne Beach Publix grocery store where she bought the tickets her 'second home'. 


The couple decided to take a one-time lump-sum payment of $327million before taxes, as opposed to an annuity. Pictured above receiving their prize money on Wednesday
